The background

Lensonline is the biggest lens seller in Belgium with a strategic activity in both B2C and B2B areas and with a large expansion rate in multiple EU countries.
They offer quality contact lenses through their online shops and specialized services through their network of over 100 optician partners in Belgium and Netherlands.

The challenge

They were using their internally developed webshop, but they were having problems in terms of features, usability and design, customization capabilities etc. Besides, the site had limitations in terms of pricing discounts, marketing capabilities and other important aspects. They were handling their orders, shipments and payments inefficiently, using excel files and manually printing shipping labels.
Lensonline was in need of a powerful eCommerce solution in terms of features, performance, customization, usability, and design to cope with their booming/growing business. Another key aspect was to improve their internal sales process so it can sustain the increasing numbers of orders, customers and products.
Lensonline had to prepare itself for the international expansion they had planned.

The solution

We proposed a complete eCommerce solution consisting of multiple webshops, each of them custom built for their specific brands and services. A mobile-ready solution based on a fully responsive design approach was chosen for all their shops.
Each webshop has a customized set of complex marketing and merchandising tools such as complex bundling, up-sale and cross-sale. We also provided an advanced pricing mechanism where each customer can be part of a different price group.
We integrated into their shops a reorder functionality and a custom build subscription service so that customers can automatically receive their lenses on a specified date.
Besides that, we synchronized the shop with their newly acquired ERP (SAP B1) in terms of articles, prices, stock, customers and orders so a lot of manual/inefficient work was stopped.
We proposed an approach where we can easily migrate webshop instances to other markets with minimal effort and risk. We focused on decreasing maintenance costs by using the same technical infrastructure across the entire ecosystem.

We integrated into their selling platform a B2B ordering tool that we build for their over 100 optician partners. Another integration was with a custom built app that we built for their optician partners to make eye examinations and manage customer relationships.
